WashU Continues Consistent Play at NCAA Championships

Houston, Texas, May 16, 2019 – The No. 9-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team entered the top-10 with a 318 on day three of the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championships Thursday in Houston. 

The four-day, 72-hole event is being played on a par-72, 5,889-yard layout at Bay Oaks Country Club. The field was cut to the top 15 teams and low six individuals not on one of those teams for Friday's final round.

WashU, No. 11 Redlands and No. 17 Washington & Lee tee off Friday at 7:40 a.m. on hole 10.

WashU enters the final day in 10th place with a three-day score of 954 (319-317-318). No. 6 Williams College (309-306-300, 915) took control of the tournament with a tournament best 300 on day three and has an eight-shot lead over No. 3 NYU. 

"We've played three rounds consistently and positioned ourselves to reach our team goal," said WashU head coach Mary Swanson. "We will be looking for our low round of the event tomorrow to send off our seniors on a high note."

Senior Chloe DiPetrillo led the way for the Bears with a five-over 77 on day three, and is tied for 20th place with a 234 (79-78-77). DiPetrillo has dropped her score one stroke each day, and is just four strokes outside the top-10.

Freshman Lydia Tsai moved up a spot in the individual standings with a six-over 78 on day three and is now tied for 14th place (74-79-78, 231). 

Classmate Julia Dai dropped to 32nd place despite shooting a seven-over 79 and is now tied for 32nd place (79-78-79, 236). Dai is tied for third in the tournament in par-3 scoring (3.08, +1).

Junior Emily Carnes is tied for 83rd place with a score of 253 (87-82-84), while senior Sabrina Ho moved into the top-100 at 94th place with a three-day score of 259 (91-84-84).

Rhodes College's Emily Salamy fired her second 74 of the tournament and took sole possession of the individual lead at 223.
