No. 1 WashU Finishes Round 1 Tied for 8th at Golfweek D3 Invite

Sandestin, Fla., Oct. 14, 2018 – The No. 1-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team is tied for eighth place at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invite at the Baytowne Golf Club following the conclusion of round one Sunday afternoon.

WashU finished day one with 322 strokes, while No. 10-ranked Berry College is first and holds an 11-stroke lead on the Bears. Berry fired a 311 on Sunday and the top five teams are No. 12 Methodist University (313), No. 25 Illinois Wesleyan University (314), No. 6 Rhodes College (317) and No. 21 Birmingham Southern College (318).

Also ahead of the Bears tied for sixth place are No. 24 Huntingdon College (319) and No. 16 Carnegie Mellon University (319). WashU is tied with Oglethorpe University (322) for eighth with two rounds remaining.

Junior Samantha Haubenstock led the Bears with a two-over par 74 and is in fourth place individually. She fired one of WashU's two birdies, scoring the one-under on the par-five fifth hole.

Second for the Bears was freshman Julia Dai, who was tied for 25th place with an eight over 80. Rounding out WashU's scoring lineup was senior Chloe DiPetrillo (82) and freshman Alyssa Kim (86). Junior Emily Carnes was the lone other Bear to fire a birdie as she finished round one with an 88.
