Men’s Soccer Lands Three on All-UAA Team 


St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 8, 2018– The Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team had three student-athletes earn 2018 University Athletic Association (UAA) all-association honors, as announced Thursday by the conference office.

Senior forward Ryan Sproule was the lone WashU selection to the first team, while senior midfielder Kyle Perez and senior back Ben Strozewski picked up second-team accolades.

Sproule, a three-time all-UAA honoree, started 15 of 16 games played up front and led the team with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points. He led the conference in shots (86), and was also second in game-winning goals (4) and third in goals scored and points. Sproule netted the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Brandeis on Oct. 26. He finished his career with 31 goals and 13 assists for 75 points. The 31 goals scored are tied for 10thmost in school history. 

Perez, a two-time all-UAA selection, started all 16 games in the midfield and had three goals and an assist for seven points. He scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Wheaton (Ill.). Perez started 64 of 68 career games played, including the last 60-straight. He had six goals and two assists for 14 career points. 

Strozewski, a two-time all-UAA honoree, started all 16 games on the back line and recorded three assists. He was part of the WashU defense that allowed 21 goals in 16 games with three shutouts. Strozewksi started 34 of 52 career games played, with three goals and seven assists for 13 points. 

WashU finished the season with a 7-7-2 overall record and tied for third in the UAA with a 3-2-2 mark, the highest finish since 2012.
