St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 22, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis concludes a two-road road trip at Illinois Wesleyan University (4-2, 4-1 CCIW) on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. The Bears are coming off a 52-13 loss at No. 5-ranked Wheaton (Ill.), and sit in a tie for fourth place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) standings.

THE SERIES – WashU and Illinois Wesleyan have split 18 all-time meetings in a series that dates back to 1899. IWU held on for a 27-21 in the last meeting between the two teams on Oct. 20, 2018 in St. Louis.
THE COACHES – WashU head coach Larry Kindbom (Kalamazoo, 1974) is in his 31st season leading the Bears, with a record of 189-118 (.616). His 189 wins rank him as the all-time winningest coach at WashU. Overall, in 37 seasons, Kindbom has a 217-148-1 (.594) overall record and has led the Bears to 13 conference titles and three NCAA Division III playoff appearances. He announced on Sept. 11 that he will be retiring at the end of the 2019 season.
Illinois Wesleyan head coach Norm Eash (Illinois Wesleyan, 1975) is 212-107-1 (.664) in 33 seasons with the Titans. During Eash's tenure, the program has won nine CCIW championships and made six NCAA Division III playoff appearances. The "Dean" of league coaches, Eash has been named CCIW Coach of the Year six times and is the league's all-time winningest coach with a 154-83-1 (.649) mark.
SPECIAL TEAMS COME THROUGH– WashU's special teams were a bright spot in the 52-13 loss at No. 5 Wheaton Oct. 19. Senior punter Johnny Davidson averaged 43.0 yards per punt, and had three at 50+ yards. Davidson had a season-long 53-yarder, and four that landed inside the 20-yard line.
Junior defensive back Will Hurley had a five-yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter against Wheaton. Hurley hopped on a loose ball after classmate Charlie Krause recorded the blocked punt.
