St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 2, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis opens its 123rd season of college football Saturday, Sept. 7, in the annual Founders Cup Game at the University of Chicago. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. in the Windy City. The Bears have compiled an all-time record of 531-486-28 (.522) in 122 seasons of football on the Danforth Campus.

THE SERIES – WashU and Chicago are meeting for the 38th time in school history, with the Bears holding a 25-12 edge. WashU also leads the all-time series in the Founders Cup, 24-8.
THE COACHES – WashU head coach Larry Kindbom (Kalamazoo, 1974) is in his 31st season leading the Bears, with a record of 185-116 (.615). His 185 wins rank him as the all-time winningest coach at WashU. Overall, in 36 seasons, Kindbom has a 213-146-1 (.593) overall record and led the Bears to three NCAA Division III playoff appearances.
Chicago head coach Chris Wilkerson (Eastern Illinois, 1995) is 37-22 (.627) in six seasons at Chicago. Wilkerson was named the head coach in July 2013 after serving as the associate head coach at Dartmouth College.
WASHU PICKED FOURTH IN CCIW POLL – The Bears were picked fourth in the 2019 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Annual Preseason Coaches' Poll. WashU was selected fourth out of 10 teams with 57 points. No. 5 ranked North Central (Ill.) received seven first-place votes and were picked to defend its 2018 conference title
